Serah Bellar: More to the Story
Taylor Harrington 12/2/2021 7:00am EST

We came to know Serah’s story almost two years ago when she first went missing. Nestled in the foothills of Appalachia, Athens, Ohio only recently made the map when our hometown hero, Joe Burrow, received the Heisman Trophy and went on to play for the Cincinnati Bengals.

Athens is a small town, yet no one was talking about this young missing teen. No search parties. No press conferences. Just one small missing poster at the gas station on the way out of town. We admittedly became what some might consider “too invested”, but we were rooting on Serah’s safe return from the beginning.
One of 18 children, Serah went through years of mental, physical, and sexual abuse, and took it upon herself to go into hiding until her 18th birthday when she knew she would finally be free. This has led to both of her parents, Robert and Deborah Bellar, being incarcerated on a $1,000,000 bond each, two of the Bellar brothers, Josiah and Jonathan to be imprisoned, and local Sheriff Sgt. Jimmy Childs to be jailed and subsequentially let go for hiding evidence related to the case as well.
When we first made contact with Serah after we knew she was safe, a bond was quickly formed, and she decided to share her extremely personal story with us. Serah’s story deserves to be heard so that a change in the system can be made. Allegations were brought to CPS as far back as 2017, yet nothing was done. Watch the full interview with Serah below. Viewer discretion is advised.
Stay tuned to our page for updates on the case, including a follow-up with Serah and documents pertaining to her case.

Originally from Edison, New Jersey, Taylor won the 2005 “Middlesex County Caring Award”, and hasn’t stopped caring since. When she is not writing or hosting More to the Story, Taylor can be found chasing her two mutts around Athens, Ohio where she currently resides with her husband. Moving to Appalachia has made a huge impact on her life, and she can’t wait to share some of her stories, laughs, and (mis)adventures with you!
